I call today’s idea the FOMO Conversion Hack.
FOMO is all about scarcity – it stands for the Fear of Missing Out. It’s why you can’t help but check your Facebook status or email every 10 minutes. FOMO is that uneasy feeling you get when you feel like you might be missing out on something that everyone else is doing.
As a business owner, you can use FOMO as a tactic for boosting conversions and motivating your prospects to take action.
Here’s my 3-steps to creating that anxious, butterfly-ie feeling in your prospects’ stomachs:
- Think about how you can create the perception of urgency and scarcity in relation to one or all of your offerings.
- Once you’ve decided on your campaign, create some visual graphics to use on your website, in social media, in-store and in your email marketing campaigns.
- Start promoting your FOMO campaign … everywhere.
Pro-Tip: Be honest! Whatever you’re creating scarcity around, be sure that it really is scarce.
And here’s a cool resource to add a countdown timer to your emails.
And if you’d like help implementing any of the marketing ideas I share in this segment (and there’s been 23 so far), go ahead and join The Small Business Big Marketing Club – where I’ll personally support you daily on your marketing journey.
So … what have you got to lose?!
