I call today’s idea the “little bit geeky but important, website update.”
Every business owner needs to update their website to be HTTPs – yes, I know it’s geeky but it’s important. The ‘s’ in ‘HTTPs’ means, secure and Google has confirmed it’s a ranking factor.
That’s not to mention some web browsers (like Chrome) display if a site is secure or not. You’ll see it in the top left hand corner near the website address?
When your website isn’t secure it can sometimes show an exclamation point ! or worse, it can even say “not secure.” Of course, you want to go with a website that says secure and has the green lock… that’s what HTTPS offers!
So, what should you do?
#1. Visit your website in a browser and see how your domain displays:
http://www.melbournevideoproduction.com.au or https://www.melbournevideoproduction.com.au
#2. If you don’t have an “s” displaying next to the http, contact Melbourne SEO Services and we can help.
Or contact your web host and ask if they can help…
Just remember, if you’re asking your host, tell them they must setup some redirects too. Depending on the size, age and existing setup, there are a few steps in the migration process to ensure you reduce any ranking fluctuations… and if you have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s best to give us a call.
The whole goal here is to get your website in beautiful shape, giving your clients and Google what they’re looking for. This will help you get more traffic and visibility online.
