Regional Queensland Series – Rockhampton
This week we head further South from Mackay down to Rockhampton, to meet Leah Samson (AKA Queen Cherry Bomb) who’s identified a hungry gap in the market for motorcycle gear for women.
But first, let’s meet Katrina Haughton, who at 37 was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer which led to 6-months of intense chemo and radiotherapy followed by a double mastectomy.
Now, I’m not sure where those faced with great adversity summon the strength to look beyond their own challenges, and seek to help and support others … but in Kat’s case, while battling through concentration challenges, and the sheer exhaustion of what she was going through, she found the wherewithal to make things easier and better for her fellow survivors.
And that’s what her range of fashionable mastectomy bras and swimwear was born out of. Lovingly called Know Your Knockers, she already has 3 staff, 8 products and has shipped to 8 countries.
