Have you claimed your Google My Business listing yet? It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s free. Yes, yes, yes… we know Google makes it confusing by renaming this product from Google local to Google Business, to Google My Business but the good news is, it’s all same service.

So what is it?

You know when you run a search on Google, and you see a business that appears on the right hand side of the search results with a whole bunch of extra information – things like photos, contact details, opening hours, videos, etc? Or have you seen, when you run a search with a suburb or state in it and a map appears listing companies underneath.

That’s Google My Business.


 

Here’s the thing, there are a whole bunch of benefits for claiming your listing but one of best is that you can often win over large corporates because Google gives preference to the location someone is actually searching from. So in other words, you might appear higher because you’re geographically more relevant to the searcher. Makes sense?

So, if you haven’t already, you need to claim your Google My Business listing and be sure to fill it out completely. Upload photos, add your contact details and fill out all the fields you can. Once you have it complete, your next step is to get your past clients to post reviews about your company on your Google My Business Listing.

There are a few other fancy things you can do like submitting your site to local directories like “True Local”, “Yellow Pages” and “Yelp”…. and all this combined can equal loads of free SEO traffic for you.
