I call today’s idea “the don’t apply silly outdated SEO strategies to your website tip”.
Often business owners listen to a podcast, read a blog post and/or see something on social media talking SEO and it grabs their attention. They think…
“That’s what I’ve should to do?! I’ve got to find the keywords that people are searching for and then I need to put them everywhere I can on my website.”
What ends up happening is that they stuff that keyword wherever they can, with little regard to readability or userability. But, as you could imagine, Google are a bit smarter than that. They call this dodgy SEO technique “keyword stuffing” and it’s the wrong thing to do.
Here’s what you should be doing:
#1. Rather than optimising your website for Google first, you optimise for your user first. Just give your visitors a great experience. It makes sense when you think about it because people buy your products and services – not Google.
#2. Yes, still identify great keywords but follow Google’s best practice guide when adding them to your site. Grab their guidelines here.
Or, if you prefer to get an expert to help, let me do a FREE website review of your current keywords and on-page SEO. I’ll tell you what you’re doing wrong (or right) and how get more traffic from Google.
Just email me here and mention the “SBBM site review” in the comments box and I’ll get you sorted.
