Today’s idea is to become a master blog commenter.
Not a master blogger, that was last week’s idea. A master blog commenter.
You see, if you want to create more content partnerships and send more traffic back to your website, then you should seriously consider going out of your way to regularly comment on other blog posts from other companies around the web.
More often than not, when you leave a comment on a blog post, you get the opportunity to leave your website’s address – other blog visitors then read your comment, and if it’s any good, may well click on it and next thing you know, boom!, they’re on your website.
Here’s my 3-steps to doing exactly that:
- Find reputable blogs to leave comments on. You may already know some, you may need to ask others in your industry, you could search on Google, or (if you want to spend a few bucks) you could use BuzzSumo, which helps you find key influencers to promote your content.
- Aim to leave two comments per week on other businesses blogs. And I don’t mean shallow comments like “Wow, great blog post!”. Go hard, add something new to the conversation. Maybe it’s an additional idea, maybe you have an opposing view … just make sure your comment has some depth.
- Share the blog posts you comment on with your social media followers. Not only might they find it interesting, but the blogger will appreciate it and you’ll end up on their radar going forward. I gotta tell you, as a blogger myself, I absolutely love it when someone leaves a comment on one of my posts.
Pro-Tip: Bookmark the blogs you comment on and make a point to revisit them often. Or if you can, register to receive each new post as they get posted.
