Hey business owner, it’s time to stop eating alone.

I call today’s idea the Never Eat Alone hack.

What’s that old saying? Your net worth equals your net-work! Never a truer word spoken.

If you want to build your network and your reputation, then make a habit to never eat alone. Although it can be tempting to work through lunch when you’re busy, you’ll find that taking the time to meet with other business owners, suppliers, journalists and potential partners can be an effective way to grow your business.

So, here’s my 3-steps to my Never Eating Alone hack:

  1. Block out at least one lunch time per week to have lunch with someone.
  2. Choose three different restaurants or cafes that are suitable for both eating and talking. Having this sorted means you’ll never need to think about where you’re going to go.
  3. Create a list of the first 12 people you’d like to have lunch with and lock them in.

Pro-Tip: Get crystal clear on what outcome you want from each of these lunch time rendezvous. Maybe it’s simply to reconnect with an old client. Maybe it’s to pitch an idea to a journo. Maybe it’s to schmooze a supplier to bring your costs down.

That’s my 3-steps to never eating alone.
