“Hi Kev, it’s Tim here…your blokes just dropped off a couch at my place. I just want to let you know that they were absolute professionals in every aspect. They did a great job.”
“Ah….OK.” Followed by an awkward silence…almost as if he was waiting for the “But…”
But there was no “but”…so I awkwardly finished the call by asking him to pass this feedback on to his boys and that I’d given them the cheque so I’m sure he’d have it shortly.
This is the blow by blow dialogue of a phone call I had today. I love giving feedback. Probably because I love receiving it. Positive or constructive.
Do you ever find it difficult accepting a simple compliment from a client? I hope not. But if you do, don’t wait for the “But…”
….just look the person in the eyes, smile and say “Thanks.”
More importantly, who are you going to ring right this minute and thank?

I recently had a client ring to offer congratulations for a networking event we held. The customer was so impressed her compliments became gushing. I have to admit, although I obvioulsy like to hear from our customers when they are satisfied with our service, I became a little embarrassed.
Right! Although you know that it’s very nice to hear good feedbacks from your customer but then there’s a little awkward feeling. I guess it’s normal. By the way, just take it as a habit because you’re a good one.
