Northcote_house_for_sale interview on Small Business Big Marketing with Tim Reid

John Newell promoted the sale of a house in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote using Twitter and some other social media channels. The result? The house sold at auction and he’s now receiving global media coverage. Global as in like seven countries! This is the story of how he did it – how he sold his house using social media.  And here’s the links we talk about in the interview:

Not a bad bit of PR for his business, I’m thinking.

Back in 2006 I used a web site to help the agent sell a rural property. Now I’m doing it again, picking up on what these guys have done, to help sell a Mount Eliza unit using both a web site and social media. See http://www.mountelizaunit.com.au It will be interesting to see what happens.

Thanks for popping by Lloyd, looks like a good site. Let us know how it goes.

Nice site, Roy. My office looks right on to that block of units! Let us know how you go.

We’ve only had the web site http://www.mountelizaunit.com.au and the Twitter, Facebook and YouTube social media campaign running for a week, but have had encouraging results already. Today’s open for inspection had three times the number of groups through as earlier ones.

Social media done right will help real estate agents sell for their clients. But the danger is that most agents will do a very ordinary job of it and turn people away. And that could ruin it for everyone.

On Friday, we added a QR Code to the display board in front of the Mount Eliza unit, linking through to the blog. The results have been well beyond my expectations. See http://www.mountelizaunit.com.au/mount-eliza-unit-qr-code/
