Like most 20 year-olds, Bailey Page loves a big night out. And, like most 20 year-olds, he’s on his phone all night forgetting that at some point he’s going to need an Uber to get home. But, what if you run out of charge? That can make for a long walk home! That’s exactly what happened to young Bailey, who upon waking the next morning (hangover and all), goes ahead and invents the Zip Zap Charger … the world’s first cordless mobile phone charger. It’s a fully-charged episode 636 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing Podcast.
A little more about Zip Zap Charger founder Kim McCosker …
20 year-old entrepreneur Bailey Page’s business adventure began at the end of a night out with some mates when his iPhone ran out of juice. Trying to order an Uber ride home and not carrying a phone charger with him, he was left stranded with a big walk ahead of him.
Waking up the next morning, a little worse for wear, Bailey decides to solve the problem and the Zip Zap Mobile Charger was born; which unbelievably was a global first! Like how had no-one invented a cordless phone charger?!
So sit back as Bailey (now 22) shares how, without any technology or manufacturing experience whatsoever, went from idea to finished product, how he found a manufacturer who shared his vision and successfully navigated the treacherous waters of production, the mistakes he made along the way, as well as the challenges of developing a product to work in the Apple ecosystem.
