How to build your authority by creating a LinkedIN Group

Today’s idea will help you build your authority by creating your very own
LinkedIN Group.

If you want to establish yourself as an industry influencer and connect with more business contacts, a great thing you can do is create a LinkedIn Group around a particular topic that relates to your business or industry. Doing so will not only enable you to lead the discussion on important topics, but it will give you great insights into what you’re tribe are thinking, and also be the source of great content for future blog posts or podcasts (you’re thinking of podcasting, right?!).

So, here’s my 3-steps to creating your very own LinkedIN Group:

  1. Pick a topic that is relevant to your industry and that you’d love to discuss regularly with others.
  2. Head over to LinkedIN and create a Group.
  3. Invite all your LinkedIN contacts, clients and suppliers

Pro-Tip: Stick at it. In the first few days, weeks (maybe even months) it may feel like you’re moderating a ghost town, but just keep posting interesting questions, opinions and content and at some point, your LinkedIN Group will develop a life of its own. I experienced this as I built The Small Business Big Marketing Club.
