#59 The Healthy Small Business Owner.

#59 The Healthy Small Business Owner.

Marketing should be a major part of running a successful small business, but so too should the health of its owner and employees. That’s why in this episode we leave marketing behind and talk to Marin Lazic, owner of Balmaine personal training business Z-Best-Fitness. Marin first came to Timbo’s attention via Twitter, by providing some very timely advice about how to best set-up his office to avoid further neck operations(!) and to maintain a healthier approach to business. So, sit back and grab a celery juice as we dig deep on Marin’s tips to improve the performance of the small business owner. It’s all about increasing productivity.

  1. I always hit iTunes on my phone when you email the update and it is never there! there seems to be a lag for it to go up. Not that i want to appear too keen

  3. Totally agree with Tim’s advice about putting the person at the front of the business. I was thinking that just before Tim mentioned it, as I was looking through the website. It made it really disconcerting to look through the website and not know who the trainer even is.

  5. Simon, there is a bit of a lag. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about the speed at which iTunes “indexes” a new show. We could however delay sending the email for 24 hours. Thanks for the feedback.

  6. Nothing worse than a website that doesn’t make clear who’s behind it. People buy people … online and offline.

That’s a good point Simon. iTunes takes a little while to pick up the latest episode, so perhaps we need to delay the email.

I have often struggled with my approach to social media and how to use it, the biggest decision has been should I try to create a seperate identity for my business activities to keep is seperate from pleasure. In the end I decided to blur the lines and consider it an extension of myself and my personality, as all the advice suggessted 🙂 Although, in the long run, it’s my goal to build a business that doesnt require me there to run and manage it on a daily basis, I see its overall success relying on my reputation, not the reputation of a nameless, faceless identity.
