#75 How To Be Innovative In Your Business.

#75 How To Be Innovative In Your Business.

Phil McKinney is an innovation expert based in Silicon Valley. Recently retired as the VP and Chief Technology Officer at Hewlett Packard, Phil hosts the Killer Innovations podcast and has just released the book ‘Beyond The Obvious’. In this mind-opening interview Phil explains clearly and simply how any small business can introduce and benefit from an innovations culture. Specifically, you’ll discover:

  • A process for coming up with new ideas for your marketing and product / service development;
  • Why brainstorms don’t work;
  • How to become innovative (even if you think you’re not);
  • Why innovation in small business is so important;
  • The concept behind Phil’s own innovation process called Killer Questions;
  • How to run an innovations session.

Plus we tackle a listener question about why would some one pay for your face-to-face services when they can access your content online?

  8. Pleasure Tim … Thanks for contributing. I’d be surprised if Phil’s book wasn’t available on every device imaginable!

    You’re just lifting it to a whole new level. Who’s next? Springstein, The Pope, Obama, QE2?? What clarity of thought this guy had, a real inspiration.

  11. Arnold, Phil is the real deal. Now don’t go off and replace us with him. He’s good, but he’s not as funny ;0) I’ve been listening / reading his stuff for the last 7-years – it’s helped me and my Clients immensely. Re who’s next [scratching chin] … you’ll just have to wait and see !

    Tim and Luke, thank you for this great episode. Out of all the episodes I have listen to, for some reason this one stuck out the most. Phil touched on a lot of things that were thought provoking and at times gut renching. I am going to be sure to get a copy of his new book and look forward to challenging the assumptions. I run a new service based on the milk man delivery concept but for pets and am always looking for ways to change and this episode has me excited about what lies ahead. Thank you Phil and Tim and Luke for the great episode on getting Beyond the Obvious.
    Pawtastic!
